It’s hard to know the unknowable, but I can say with a reasonable amount of certainty that no potential First Lady’s style resonates with the contemporary woman the way Michelle Obama’s does. Sometimes, she makes choices I don’t love - but that’s what personal style is; it offers room for debate. All that aside, her outfit at last night’s Congressional Black Caucus Phoenix Awards ceremony was nothing short of impressive. The palette was as simple as it gets for evening wear - all black. But she added wonderful dimension by playing with texture - the sequined skirt, the satiny cummerbund and the matte top accentuated her figure wonderfully and the dazzling set of bangles added fun movement. The hair is perfectly coiffed as usual.
